Hello! In the past few days, a lot has happened for Celeste, Horacio, and I. Firstly, the Experience Columbus annual meeting. There were over 1,000 people at this meeting, all waiting to hear about how Columbus is becoming more of a great place to live and visit. Although it was a long day (we had to get there at 8:30 am), it was a great experience to be able to meet new people making a difference in Columbus and see them get rewarded for their contributions to the city, including the mayor of Columbus, who is retiring. Celeste and Horacio also were in charge of presenting the fashion portion of the meeting, which ended in the unveiling of one of their first gowns for Verano Bridal.
A couple opportunities have arisen already as a product of the unveiling – the Columbus Dispatch featured a photo of the new gown in the next day’s issue (and can be found online here), and we have gotten a ton of people interested in both featuring the collection and buying (stay tuned for a feature article in Columbus Bride Magazine blog!)
I also have an exciting announcement. Recently, Celeste and I met with Aveda, and are excited to be designing a collection for their show here in Columbus in May! We will be a part of the alumni section, which means that once the theme is released, Celeste will be working with the alumni of the Aveda Institute to create unique styling for each piece in her collection.
The people at Aveda were so nice and open to ideas! To me, they really do embody a different way of creativity! For those of you unfamiliar with Aveda, they are a makeup/skin care brand that is focused on sustainable and eco friendly solutions to their skin products. For their annual show, they showcase their students’ expertise and products in a runway show with elaborate hair and makeup for the theme. In the past, they have made their clothing out of trash, meriting the name “trashion.” Now, this year, MALVAR = STEWART will take at least a part of their show to the next level by introducing eco friendly clothing to the mix. I’ll be updating you all about developments on this project (and maybe some sneak peak artwork?!), so stay tuned and have a wonderful day!
